Raisin 2026: how Raisin works

Updated

In October 2026 Raisin's Finnish site has 14 partner banks. The highest 12-month rate is 3.30% (BluOr Bank), the highest rate for any term is 4.25% (Achmea Bank, 120 months). Raisin is not a bank but a platform, and the same bank may offer a different rate directly and through Raisin, so always compare both.

What is Raisin?

Raisin SE runs an online platform through which the customer makes deposits into the products of Raisin's partner banks through an account opened with Raisin Bank AG. Raisin Bank AG is a German credit institution owned by Raisin SE. Raisin says it is supervised by the German financial supervisor BaFin and operates in 11 markets, and the company was founded in Germany in 2012 (Raisin's own information). How does Raisin work?

  1. You register once and identify yourself by video call or app with a passport or identity card and proof of address (Raisin's own information).
  2. You transfer the funds from your own bank account to the Raisin account.
  3. Raisin directs the funds to the partner bank's savings account or fixed-term deposit that you choose.

Deposits start from €1, and the maximum is usually €100,000. The exact limits are product-specific. According to Raisin's own information the service is free for the customer, and Raisin earns its commission from the partner banks.

Deposit guarantee at Raisin

The funds in a Raisin account (Raisin Bank AG) are protected by the German deposit guarantee (Entschädigungseinrichtung deutscher Banken) up to €100,000. Deposits made to partner banks are covered by each bank's home-country deposit guarantee, typically €100,000 or an equivalent amount in the local currency (e.g. Sweden 1,150,000 SEK) per bank. The Financial Stability Authority takes part in compensation only if the partner bank has its registered office or a branch in Finland.

Taxation

Interest received from abroad is taxable capital income in Finland (30% / 34%), and you declare it yourself. Foreign interest income may not appear automatically in the pre-filled tax return. Foreign tax under a tax treaty is credited in Finland against the tax that Finland imposes on the same income, but not more than the tax that would be payable in Finland on the income. If the source state has collected more than the tax treaty allows, the excess tax is not credited in Finnish taxation, and a refund is claimed from the source state. Sources: Verohallinto: ulkomailta saadut korkotulot (retrieved 16 October 2026); Raisin: verotus (retrieved 16 October 2026).

Most partner banks pay the interest gross without local withholding tax, and the information on each product states whether withholding tax is deducted. Raisin provides an annual summary for the tax return (Raisin's own information). The Raisin pages of the Latvian and Lithuanian banks do not mention the absence of foreign withholding tax. Read tax on savings deposits.
